Certain general rules apply to all stamps and theseare what anyone would normally expect. Any stamp thatis torn or otherwise damaged would not be acceptableto anyone. A used stamp that is so heavily canceled asto block out the design of the stamp would likewise beunacceptable.
Well centered. Off center. Perforation torn.
In referring to the stamps they offer, auction dealersuse the following terms that have become more or lessgenerally understood.
"Superb" — A term used very sparingly to describe anineteenth-century stamp of unusual brilliance andover-all condition. This should never be used to describea modern stamp and should only be used to describe astamp which is of outstanding condition.
