United States Stamps printedon Giori Press.
The Giori press has sounded the death knell to in-verted centers of stamps printed in two colors. This wassharply brought to public attention in 1959 when theUnited States and Canada issued the now famous St.Lawrence Seaway commemorative stamp. The designsof the two stamps was as close to being identical aspossible. The stamps were printed in two colors — redand blue. The Canadian "Seaway" stamp was printed inthe usual way from two separate plates and shortly theworld was electrified at the discovery of an inverted "cen-ter," the first major error ever to have been discoveredon a Canadian postage stamp. Naturally collectors every-where searched their collections in hope of finding one ofthese prizes. And for a while many searched vainly fora United States "Seaway" stamp with a similar invertedcenter. Such a search was hopeless for the United States"Seaway" stamps had been printed on the Giori pressand on products of this press inverted centers areimpossible.
