Naturally enough, also, the forcing of the paper intothe crevices of the die will sometimes cause wrinkles andpinches in the paper. Such things are usually ignored bycollectors as they are merely characteristic of this methodof printing; they are variations that could and do happenat any time without intent or cause.

In General

Throughout the stamp catalogs stamps are usu-ally indicated as "Engraved," "Typographed," "Litho-graphed," "Offset" or "Embossed." All of these termshave been clearly explained but we sum up their meaningto collectors as follows:

"Engraved" — Stamps produced from intaglio plates,
