The Advanced Collection : Page 262
The album you will use will be the blank album — ofcourse loose-leaf. The stamps you display must be in thefinest possible condition and mounted in strictest regardto the chronological dates of their issue. This order ofthings may only be broken when you desire to display aparticular feature that has some definite bearing on whatyou are trying to establish.
Your collection must be written up; that is, the pagesmust contain notes indicating the stamps that are shownand pointing out any particular varieties to which youwish to call attention. It is in the write-up that many anotherwise fine collection has failed to be appreciated bythe judges. The write-up must be confined to terse notes:a date of issue, an arrow pointing to a particular spot onthe stamp with perhaps the briefest notation of what thearrow indicates — for instance, "Double transfer" — thereis no need to say more. It is the stamps that must tellthe story, not long wordy descriptions. Presumably thejudges are well qualified to understand your collection,so the write-up need only be a guide for them to follow.
